In 1975, March 8 was declared International Women's Day by the United Nations. Since then, it has been a day to celebrate women, our achievements, raise awareness about discrimination and amplify our voices.
Women worldwide have been in an organized fight against oppression since 1908. Much progress has been made since then but we still have work to do.
Our second annual International Women’s Day Celebration was a great success. We were so pleased to get together to celebrate all of our incredible women-led businesses.
Stay tuned for more information on 2025 event - coming soon.
2024's IWD theme was “Inspire Inclusion” and we had some guided conversations around inclusion and what it means to you.
In addition to celebrating all the incredible women in businesses, we did some critical fundraising for our organization through a silent auction. Thank you to everyone who participated.
We are on a mission to provide access to opportunities and resources that empower women to reach their fullest potential and achieve economic success. The more we are able to fund our organization, the more great things we can do to support.
We will also be accepting donations of menstrual products for the Strathcona Food Bank. Sadly - One in six Canadians who menstruate have personally experienced period poverty; this rises to one in four (25%) if their household earns less than $40,000 a year. It is a very real issue, and we have an excellent opportunity to support women in our community who might be struggling.
